This is a great reminder William. I relieved a hand written note over the holiday break from a client thanking me for the support over 2009. It was so nice getting a written letter rather than an email.
With the post offices losing business every day they are looking for unique ways to re-engage their past customers. One of those ways are personal branded stamps – you can get the standard postage rate stamp made with your own design or picture for a few cents or pennies more. When someone gets that snail mail from you what an extra way to exude your brand with them with that unique stamp. Who knows they might even become collectors items! Just my toonies worth.
Email is a wonderful tool to utilize as part of your personal branding toolkit. Not only can you use it to send items that are relevant and interesting to your colleagues, friends, or target market, you can also use it to convey your personal brand in a big, bold way.
A nicely designed email signature, perhaps with your picture, a colorful “on brand” logo, as well as your contact information, can communicate a wealth of information. Let’s not forget that we send out hundreds of emails each day so it’s a great idea to make sure they include our mark of distinction.
The handwritten thank you note has become a lost art. I run into job seekers every week that believe the “fast” email is hip, trendy and the way to communicate. It is the personal touch of snail mail note that grabs attention. It is surprising that snail mail makes us different and unique.
I agree!! We get very little “personal” attention these days & opening a handwritten note is a great way to make an impression!
