Commercial Break – American Airlines – We Know Why You Fly

A new commercial break personal branding video.

I love this commercial because: It acknowledges that the flight is just a bridge between where you are and where you want to be (Disclosure: I am Executive Platinum on American Airlines and fly them almost exclusively). I think US airlines get a lot of bad press (and I am the first in line to rip them to shreds when they screw up), but I must say, I have had a lot of great experiences with American Airlines and I think the positive stories are rarely shared.

Branding is all about creating emotional connection between you and your constituencies. How do you relate to your brand community and create these kinds of connections?

  1. I think they missed the mark on this in terms that my initial reaction was this is the airline for the busy globe trotting MALE executive. Could have made the emotional connection more by making a couple of similar quick announcements about other passengers – woman, child, grandfather etc etc. Unless of course they have done a series of these which would really start to work for them.
